Skver of Monsey Campers Treated to a Day With Rockland Chavivim

A summer morning at the Skver of Monsey day camp turned into a hands-on lesson in emergency response, when Rockland Chavivim spent the day with the campers — touring the response fleet, walking through summer safety, and letting every kid get up close with the gear that goes out on the team's most serious calls.

A Tour of the Fleet

The visit centered on a close-up tour of Chavivim's response vehicles, including the special operations unit that anchors the team's largest incidents. Campers climbed in and around the trucks, got the rundown on what each unit carries, and asked the kind of pointed questions only summer-camp kids think to ask.

Trying On the Gear

From there, volunteers walked the group through the equipment used on serious situations — and let every camper try it on. Helmets, vests, and the rest of the kit went from stuff you see on the news to stuff you can actually hold, the kind of detail that makes the work feel real.

Summer Safety Lecture

The hands-on portion was paired with a short safety lecture pitched to the season — the hazards that come up around water, around traffic, and in the long unsupervised stretches of summer break. Practical, age-appropriate, and the part of the visit the camp staff specifically asked for.

Sent Home With a Souvenir

Every camper went home with a Chavivim frisbee and a car air freshener — small mementos from a morning that, judging by the energy in the room, won't be forgotten any time soon.

Thank you to the Skver of Monsey day camp for hosting our volunteers.
